Rock/Review Baïki - KosmoX

Baïki is a rather committed Belgian rock band and has been for 3 albums, 1 EP and a set of singles already. The lyrics, sometimes in French, sometimes in English and sometimes even in Polish or Spanish, are often frontal because how could it be otherwise? For Baïki, a song must necessarily carry a message, be the reflection of a social analysis. Baïki comes from the Polish word "bajki", which means "tales, stories". None of this is real, though, on second thoughts.

“KosmoX” by Baïki is a thought-provoking and conceptually rich track that uses the language of science fiction to confront deeply human flaws. Beneath its imaginative premise lies a sharp critique of humanity’s enduring reliance on conflict, questioning whether peace is even possible without the presence of an “other” to oppose.

Musically, the track complements its themes with a sense of expansive, forward-looking energy. There is a subtle interplay between futuristic textures and grounded rhythmic elements, creating a soundscape that feels both cosmic and unsettlingly familiar. This duality mirrors the song’s central idea: that no matter how far humanity travels, it may never truly escape itself.

The narrative driving “KosmoX” is particularly compelling. By framing space exploration as a continuation of historical patterns—colonization, exploitation, and inequality—the track challenges the romantic notion of starting anew on distant worlds. Instead, it suggests that without meaningful introspection, humanity risks exporting its worst tendencies beyond Earth. It’s a sobering perspective, delivered with intelligence and restraint.

What adds an extra layer of intrigue is the accompanying music video, which approaches these heavy themes with a deliberately light-hearted tone. This contrast enhances the message rather than diluting it, using humor and irony to make the critique more accessible while still leaving a lasting impression.

Ultimately, “KosmoX” stands out as more than just a song—it’s a reflection on progress, morality, and the illusions we cling to. Baïki successfully blends artistic creativity with philosophical depth, resulting in a track that resonates intellectually as much as it does sonically.
