Teanko is the music project of Dutch singer-songwriter and producer Theo Konst, who lives in Portugal. Theo has been making music for more than five decades. He formed his first band while still at primary school and made his first professional studio recording at the age of 18. Songwriting, recording and music technology have remained part of his life ever since. Over those decades, Theo experienced the evolution of music production first-hand — from analogue tape, synthesisers and samplers to digital recording, Melodyne and, today, artificial intelligence.
“Can you recognize me” by Teanko is a deeply moving song about memory, friendship, loss, and the passage of time. Its story begins more than five decades ago in Blokker, a village in the Netherlands, where Teanko and childhood friend Tom discovered music together while still at primary school. What started as one of their earliest songs would remain unfinished after Tom was tragically killed in an accident at just 17.
More than fifty years later, Teanko returned to that forgotten piece of their shared childhood, now possessing the time, experience, and technology to complete what the two boys had begun.
