Electronic/Review Innocent Darkness - VOIDWALKER

Hailing from Ekeren, Belgium, Innocent Darkness represents a bold new voice in the underground electronic music scene, crafting visceral soundscapes that blur the boundaries between hardware experimentation and sonic storytelling. Transitioning from DJ to music maker, this artist has channeled their passion into a pure hardware-driven approach, utilizing the Yamaha Seqtrak, Novation Circuit Tracks, and Roland MC-707, alongside Bitwig Studio and Vital VST, to forge something genuinely raw and uncompromising.

“VOIDWALKER” by Innocent Darkness is a deeply personal journey through grief, darkness, and the gradual search for light. Born from the devastating experience of losing both parents within a single year, the EP transforms profound loss into an act of creation, offering an intensely personal reflection on survival while extending a message of hope to anyone facing their own difficult period.

The project inhabits the artist’s distinctive “CHURCH_OF_GLITCH” and “NIGHTMARE_SEQUENCE” aesthetic worlds, creating an environment where haunting darkness and fragile optimism can exist together. Rather than treating grief as something that must be hidden or quickly overcome, “VOIDWALKER” appears to embrace its weight, using electronic sound as a means of processing emotions that can be difficult to express through words alone.

The production approach further strengthens the EP’s individual character. Created entirely on Linux, Innocent Darkness combines Bitwig effects, the Vital synthesizer, and XLN drum packs, while generous use of reverb contributes to the music’s expansive, shadowy atmosphere. The resulting sound reflects the EP’s central emotional tension: darkness surrounds the listener, but there are persistent glimpses of something brighter beyond it.

What makes “VOIDWALKER” particularly meaningful is the purpose behind its creation. It is not simply an artistic response to personal tragedy, but also an attempt to turn that experience into something that might help others recognize their own capacity to endure. The EP ultimately becomes a testament to resilience without pretending that healing is easy.

In that sense, “VOIDWALKER” carries a vital message: even during the darkest moments, the possibility of light remains, and asking for help can be an essential part of finding it.
