Pop/Review ErickOscar - Hold The Light

ErickOscar has been playing acoustic guitar and writing songs for more than thirty years. He grew up listening to music every weekend — usually ballads and love songs — and still treats the guitar as therapy: a way to work through what a day leaves behind. Born in Panamá, Erick has lived in the United States for 34 years and became an American citizen decades ago. Work has also taken him to postings across nearly every country in Latin America.

“Hold The Light” by ErickOscar is a deeply personal and moving musical expression of love, compassion, and perseverance in the face of ongoing hardship. Written for his wife, the album draws from the realities of living alongside someone experiencing chronic pain, transforming an intimate personal struggle into a message that can resonate with listeners facing challenges of their own.

At the heart of this release is a powerful emotional contrast: the weight of daily suffering and the determination to keep moving forward. ErickOscar’s inspiration comes from witnessing his wife’s experience with fibromyalgia, an autoimmune-related condition that causes widespread bodily pain and can make even ordinary days difficult. With medical support offering limited relief, the uncertainty surrounding her condition becomes an important part of the song’s emotional foundation.

Rather than focusing solely on the pain, however, “Hold The Light” reaches toward something more hopeful. Its central message is one of encouragement, patience, and faith in the possibility of better days ahead. The album serves as a personal prayer, expressing the desire to remain strong through difficult moments while offering reassurance to someone who means everything to the songwriter.

What makes the release especially meaningful is its sincerity. This is not simply an album about hardship observed from a distance; it emerges from a close relationship and a genuine desire to provide comfort. That personal foundation gives the message an authenticity that can extend beyond the circumstances that inspired it.

The positive emotional response from listeners suggests that ErickOscar has succeeded in communicating something universal through a very private experience. “Hold The Light” ultimately stands as a tender reminder that love cannot always remove suffering, but it can offer strength, companionship, and hope when they are needed most.
