Jazz/Review Siwane - Ya Saki
Siwane is the synthesis between the talented vocalist Mounia Siwane and some of the most exceptional jazz musicians from Lyon, France. The project is a passionate voyage through time. The compositions, written by guitarist Stani Jardel, are influenced by popular melodies from the Al-Andalus era, the historical, Muslim-ruled area that comprised most of the Iberian peninsula between between 711 and 1492. This is very special music, which mixes the antiquity of the original melodic material with modern, jazz-based language.
Siwane transports listeners to a realm of sultry poetry, vivid imagery, and timeless charm with "Ya Saki." The song, the second single from her upcoming album “Amann,” is a tribute to passion, art, and the entrancing beauty of human connection. It sounds like a whispered love letter from a bygone period.
"Ya Saki," written in poetic Arabic, skillfully combines melody and words to create a nuanced picture of passion and romance. A call to partake in the purest intoxication of love, and becomes a refrain of both invocation and surrender. Siwane's words conjure us an Andalusian night filled with wine and candlelight, where lovers alternate between dream and awareness, reality and fantasy.
Musically, the song strikes a balance between contemporary production flourishes and the grace of traditional Arabic composition. A soundtrack that is both timeless and modern is produced by delicate percussion, and flowing vocal phrasing. Siwane's voice flows naturally, conveying the languor of yearning as well as the warmth of commitment. A musical experience that immerses listeners in a universe where emotion rules and time slows down is the end result.
"Ya Saki" is fundamentally a celebration of intimacy as an art form rather than merely a love song. It depicts the momentary beauty of connection, such as the touch of a hand, the silence before morning, or the flicker of candlelight on a glass of wine. A musical poetry of exceptional grace and sensual depth has been crafted by Siwane.
