Composer Gene Pritsker has written over eight hundred compositions, including chamber operas, orchestral and chamber works, electro-acoustic music, and songs for hip-hop and rock ensembles. His compositions employ an eclectic spectrum of styles that are influenced by his studies of various musical cultures. He is the founder and leader of Sound Liberation, an eclectic hip-hop-chamber-jazz-rock, etc. ensemble. He also Co-Directs Composers Concordance and is a founder and composer-in-residence of the Grammy-nominated Absolute Ensemble.

The first composition, 'Path,' originally conceived as an R&B track, undergoes a compelling transformation into a jazzy/operatic chamber piece. Soprano Ljiljana Winkler's remarkable voice takes center stage, bringing depth and emotional resonance to the intricate melodies and harmonies.

'Blues From An Airport Bar,' the second composition on the EP, is a song cycle based on the poetry of Jacob Miller. Pritsker's exploration of the blues genre is evident in this work, but he infuses it with extended harmony and melody, pushing the boundaries of traditional blues conventions. The result is a fresh and contemporary take on the blues, enhanced by Winkler's expressive vocal delivery and the dynamic interplay of the Solenne Band.

From this perspective, the EP in its entirety is perceived as a testimony of how easily Gene Prisker can mix genres thereby producing a fabric that could not readily fall under any classification. Solenne Band provides its skilful ensemble playing towards the Winkler’s impressive vocals for an awesome listening.

In the case of this EP, the musicians were technically brilliant and the songs innovative. However, Gene Pritsker’s willingness to try some new stylisations in traditional categories makes the music very interesting and surprising. The EP is an embodiment of the constant progression of modern classical and chamber music that celebrates innovativeness and diversity.
