Pop/Review ClaT - Logic
ClaT is the solo project of Claudio Tagliabue, singer and guitarist of the rock band Dusk, founded in 1998, and bassist of the punk rock band Like Looking for Gold since 2017, both based in Como, Italy.
Language, narrative, and dystopian vision are all combined in ClaT's ambitious double album “Logic” to create a genuinely immersive auditory experience. “Logic” examines the precarious path of human evolution and the unpredictable arc of our destiny in both its English and Italian versions, each featuring unique instrumental interludes and mood changes.
The album in English is a concept work that develops like a screenplay for a movie. Through a hypothetical thousand-year timeframe, it explores issues such as resource depletion, technological advancement, space colonization, and the existential ramifications of human desires. The tracks provide a sense of progression, both musically and thematically, as they run chronologically. ClaT's reflective vocals, layered textures, and atmospheric synths combine to produce a vast, nearly theatrical soundscape.
The Italian version, on the other hand, keeps the original's apocalyptic and speculative tone while feeling more like a collection of stand-alone musings. With evocative instrumentation and a greater focus on mood and tone, these tracks explore emotional reactions to a changing environment that might be large or intimate. The change in vocabulary evokes a range of emotions, highlighting ClaT's complexity and dual artistic identity.
The interludes in the two versions are thoughtfully separated so that each can develop on its own terms while yet adding to the overall plot. More than just a musical endeavor, “Logic” is a bilingual meditation on humanity's future in which existential analysis, science fiction, and art all come together in a distinctively poetic manner.
